EnTranCe | Centre of Expertise Energy
EnTranCe, the Centre of Expertise Energy, speeds up the transition to clean, renewable and affordable energy. Scientists, students, businesses, authorities and social institutions all come together to share their knowledge. By shortening the route from prototype to successful market launch we are speeding up the energy transition as well as creating (international) opportunities for businesses in our region. Together we develop the innovations that are much needed for the energy transition and strengthen the regional knowledge economy. EnTranCe is a public-private partnership from the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen.
At EnTranCe we offer room for open knowledge-sharing. Here, the concept of open innovation is being put into practice. Innovative ideas are exchanged with companies, authorities and social institutions. Everyone who wants to test a product, service or process in a controlled, realistic environment can make use of our energy testing ground. Knowledge about innovation, product development, social, legal, economic aspects are always within reach.
A wide variety of experiments take place at our energy testing ground: experiments to create biofuel from plastic, for example, or to fly on LNG. Others have investigated opportunities for balancing the supply and demand of renewable energy in a closed network, or have looked at what happens if you get 200 smart energy management systems to cooperate. Currently a hydrogen testbed for hydrolysis and applications of green hydrogen is being developed.
There will be free shuttle buses riding between the following hotels (Asgard Hotel, Best Western Groningen Centre, City Hotel, Martini Hotel, NH Groningen Hotel) and EnTranCe. You can download the time schedule of the shuttle buses here.
